It’s estimated that the blaze has burned more than 70,000 acres, destroyed 45 homes and 40 other structures, and is only 10 percent contained. Another 1,500 structures remained threatened. About 3,200 firefighters are working to save the towns of Mariposa and Coulterville, as well as other tiny communities tucked into the foothills and steep canyons.

I wonder if this isn’t a new campaign against the U.S. by our enemies, whether it is ISIS or whomever. The amount of money, manpower and resources that are being used is amazing.

Ah, one of my old stomping grounds when I was young. Me mum sent me to a Baptist church camp just above Mariposa. A lot of history in those hills. So sad about the fires consuming so much land.

Well, if you won’t let Man thin out the underbrush and dead/dying trees, Nature will.

Record drought and they are surprised…

Gotta wonder how many endangered insects and reptiles will be destroyed by this series of fires. Fire department officials have for years advised home owners to clear brush around their homes in these areas only to be stopped by the moonbeams.
