Hello, M.D. Creekmore here… and this is what you need to know – November 24, 2017…

(Want to get this briefing by email? Here’s the sign-up.)

1. Enforcement Failure

Potentially thousands of people who should not have guns are able to buy them because of an apparent failure of federal record-keeping. The NICS system relies on state and local agencies as well as the military to accurately report criminal history and other information. But for years, they have failed to upload these critical records with no consequences for failing to follow federal law. From CBS News: Why federal database is failing to bar certain people from gun purchases.

+ Obama Rarely Prosecuted Criminals Who Sought To Buy Guns Illegally

+ Police knew ‘madman’ had guns before killing rampage – Police on Wednesday called the deadly shooting rampage in California a clear case of “a madman on the loose” while defending their decision not to arrest the man for previously violating a court order prohibiting him from having guns. At a tense news conference, police conceded that neighbors had repeatedly complained about Kevin Neal firing hundreds of rounds from his house among other erratic and violent behavior.

+ U.S. attorney general orders review of gun background check system

(Before all of the anti-gun morons start calling for more gun laws and related bans maybe they should be pushing for the gun laws that are already on the books to be enforced. Yeah, that would make more sense, but as we know liberalism is a mental disorder.)

2. My Revolver Stopped Revolving

Revolvers fail, too. I feel like I’m starting to sound like a broken record at this point, but I’ll probably keep bringing it up until people stop spreading misinformation about revolvers being “100% reliable.” From The Lucky Gunner Blog: My Revolver Stopped Revolving.  And I’m not talking about the kind of problems you can fix in a couple of seconds on the firing line. I mean, “put it in a box and mail it to the men with tools” kind of problems.

(Yep, I’ve seen it too when I was working as a gunsmith in a local gun shop – mostly revolvers that were out of time – cylinder not in the correct position when the trigger is pulled. It does happen and contrary to what you’ve probably read on the internet, revolvers are not 100% reliable and in my experience aren’t as reliable as good quality semi-autos like Glock or Springfield XD.)

3. Bama Boom

A loud boom-like noise shook parts of Lakewood, Brighton, Lochbuie, and Elizabeth in Colorado on Monday night. The sound, which residents described as an explosion, has left authorities baffled. Colorado is not the only U.S. state, where residents of several towns have reported hearing explosion-like sounds. In the past few days, the booms have also been heard in New Jersey, Alabama, Idaho, and Detroit. Some attributed it to active meteor showers, deep earthquake, and even an alien invasion. (My guess would be exploding transformers – the reporter should have checked with the electric companies in those areas to confirm or rule that out.)

4. A Massive Asteroid Is Going To Pay Us A Visit

Christmas 2017 is going to be exciting for many reasons, but one of the reasons is a “monster” asteroid, which is supposed to pass by the Earth on Dec. 16, is just a little more than a week before Christmas. What’s spectacular about this massive asteroid is that it has a huge diameter of 3 miles. From Value Walk: A Massive Asteroid Is Going To Pay Us A Visit

(According to the article this Asteroid isn’t going to get close to earth (It’s going to pass 6.5 million miles away)and will not cause any damage, however, it does serve as a warning that it’s not a matter of if but when earth will be in the direct path of such a massive space object.)

+ A a mile-wide asteroid has the energy that’s 10 million times greater than the bomb that fell on Hiroshima. It’s able to flatten everything for 100 to 200 miles out from ground zero. In other words, if a mile-wide asteroid were to directly hit New York City, the force of the impact probably would completely flatten every single thing from Washington D.C. to Boston, and would cause extensive damage perhaps 1,000 miles out — that’s as far away as Chicago. The amount of dust and debris thrown up into the atmosphere would block out the sun and cause most living things on the planet to perish. If an asteroid that big were to land in the ocean, it would cause massive tidal waves hundreds of feet high that would completely scrub the coastlines in the vicinity.

In other words, if an asteroid strikes Earth, it will be a really, really bad day no matter how big it is. If the asteroid is a mile in diameter, it’s likely to wipe out life on the planet. Let’s hope that doesn’t happen anytime soon! From Marshall Brain in How Stuff Works: What if an asteroid hit the Earth?

5. Yuck!

Flies really do spread germs, a new study confirmed. The insects are not only annoying by trying to land on your meal or crawling over kitchen countertops, they also carry more diseases than previously thought. And their legs and their wings are teeming with pathogens that hitch a ride after the flies land on dead carcasses or feces and then spread them to new surfaces. New York Post: Bacteria spreads around cities on the back of flies

7. Putting On The Squeeze

This is the use of the arm of the government to take away human liberty. And are they interested in truth? Are they interested in justice? Or are they just interested in who’s going to say what about whom, so we can keep going up that totem pole until we reach the guy in the Oval Office. 9. This Is As Serious As It Gets

According to this new story over at SYFY Wire, while solar geoengineering is being looked at as the radical solution for cooling a polluted Earth, we probably shouldn’t be doing it no matter how ‘cool’ some scientists think the idea is. Reporting that Strategic Aerosol Injections allegedly help to cool the planet by reflecting the sun’s rays back into space, they also claim that the practice will ‘artificially recreate the effects of a volcano’.

Further reporting “just think of what happened when that killer asteroid sent up immense amounts of debris during the twilight of the dinosaurs”, we should also remember that back in 1816, what’s now known through history as the ‘year without a summer’ took place after the 1815 eruption of Mount Tambora in the East Indies, an eruption that resulted in major food shortages and deadly famine all across the Northern hemisphere. #2- I’ve seen revolvers malfunction too. Usually out of time, but I did see one with a squib load where the bullet exited the casing just enough to jam the cylinder. That was on a police academy range. Luckily, one of the instructors was an experienced pistol smith and had the right tools with him to fix the recruits revolver for no charge. No tap-rack-ready to get out of that jam on the street.

Of course, a squib load could ruin anyone’s day on the street, semi-auto or revolver. That’s why I always advised carrying a backup gun.

In the past the phrase was reserved for lawyers. Today it is becoming more and more applicable to government-speak: How do you know when the government is lying? You got it – As soon as they start explaining anything!

#6 – If anyone remembers a day or so after the Las Vegas shooting incident, a video was available of shots being fired in a seemingly fully automatic manner. I commented then that the gunfire sounded exactly like an M-60 machine gun. I was around M-60s all through my military career (21 years active and reserve, in Vietnam and Desert Storm). I’ve fired and heard fired (from many different angles and distances) M-60 machine guns. That was an M-60 being fired on that video tape, not an AR with a bump stock.

I’m not normally a conspiracy nut kind of person, but this incident has raised all kinds of questions with me. I’m still waiting on the number of victims actually shot vs trampled or other non-GSW injuries. The implication has been that all 600 or so casualties were GSW victims. Although a doctor was interviewed on TV the next day who said he saw and treated non-GSW trauma injuries. That was the last I heard about non-GSW injuries.

Maybe there was ISIS involvement as well as M-60 use and the authorities know it. Maybe they are keeping things close to the vest so as not to give away critical intel to ISIS. Who knows except them.

With everything there is in need of fixing this year, “ruin Thanksgiving” in their mantra?

(My guess would be exploding transformers – the reporter should have checked with the electric companies in those areas to confirm or rule that out.)

In that case there would have been large associated power outages and none have been reported.

      [email protected],

Not necessarily. Would depend on the location of the transformer – did you contact the power companies of all of the areas affected?

I feel like I’m starting to sound like a broken record at this point, but I’ll probably keep bringing it up until people stop spreading misinformation about revolvers being “100% reliable.”

I don’t think I’ve ever seen any assertion that revolvers are 100% reliable.
For the new shooter; however, they are simpler to learn, with fewer failure modes than an autoloader. Typically on a misfire, you squeeze the trigger again; but, with an autoloader you have to be proficient with clearing the jam and operating the slide to get the gun back in the fight.
