The first known owner of legally recognized black slaves in what would become the United States is often identified as Anthony Johnson. Johnson was an African who arrived in Virginia in 1621 and later became a successful tobacco farmer. Interestingly, Johnson himself was initially brought to North America as an indentured servant, a common practice before the institution of chattel slavery was fully established.
Johnson's case is notable because he was one of the first to have his ownership of a person legally recognized. In a legal dispute in 1655, the Virginia court ruled in favor of Johnson, granting him the right to hold another African, John Casor, as a slave for life. This case is one of the earliest instances of judicial support for lifetime slavery, distinct from the indentured servitude that was common at the time for both Europeans and Africans.
The Ku Klux Klan (KKK) was founded in 1865 by former Confederate soldiers in Pulaski, Tennessee. During the Reconstruction era following the Civil War, the Democratic Party in the South was the party of white supremacy and opposed to the Reconstruction policies aimed at extending civil rights and political representation to freed slaves. Many Southern Democrats were involved in or supported the activities of the KKK.
I always want to ask bleeding heart liberals how they think that the slaves got to the ivory coast to be sold. Their own people enslaved them first, then sold them to the Europeans and Americans!! Again, people need to read a history book. Good Grief!!
I read that only 9 percent of all of the south owned slaves. Clearly, the Southerners were fighting about something else other than slavery. Seems to me it was more about States Rights. It morphed into a slavery issue. Slavery was already starting to die out. We were the only country that fought a war over slavery. Every other country ended slavery peacefully. Unfortunately, the Rothschilds had certain plans for this country, and funded both sides of the war. Divide and conquer, or bind and unite. Either way they would get what they wanted. Lincoln seemed to be their puppet in this. He shut down any newspapers that talked of peace, threatened his own cabinet members, I don't think he's the guy history makes him out to be. Unfortunately, those who win get to write the history. Things are not what they seem, that's for sure. I'm so sick of all the lies.
