Why I Stopped Watching The Walking Dead and More: Your Monday Briefing

Good evening.

Here’s what you need to know:

1. Why I stopped Watching The Walking Dead

The Walking Dead

The Walking Dead

The Walking Dead seems to have very little idea how guns actually work. Even if the way The Walking Dead uses guns isn’t realistic, to me, it’s not even “movie/TV realistic” either. As reported by Paul Tassi in Forbes: Can Someone Please Explain To ‘The Walking Dead’ How Guns Work? (Another thing that I’ve noticed and the one the pushed me from being a fan of the show to no longer interested is many times when the semi-auto and full-auto firearms are supposed to be being fired if you look closely, the actions aren’t even moving. It looks so fake and it just ridiculous…

2. After Mass Shootings, Should Guns be Welcomed into Churches?

If you don’t have a weapon, it’s very difficult to fight someone with a weapon… Churches opposed to firearms could keep their parishes safe by having someone outside the building keeping an eye and ear out for trouble. From Michael Boulter in the PBS News Hour: After mass shootings, should legal guns be welcomed into church? (The article includes both pro and negative responses to the question from those interviewed which is good in a time of mostly one-sided reporting, but no matter what, I for one will always carry a loaded Glock 34 to Sunday service… and yes, I know how to use it.)

+ And this has to be the most sickening (and stupid) article that I’ve ever had the misfortune of reading – The Gun maker’s strategy: marketing products to men’s basest instincts.

+ Well, this one might be even worse than the one I linked to above – Do we love our guns more than our children? (Folks, the anti-gun thugs are still wanting your guns and they love to use “the children as a marketing ploy to guilt the population into supporting their cause of eventual total gun bans and confiscation.)

+ Well, this one might be even worse still – Just outlaw the killing machines once and for all. It’s way past time. Take all the guns! (For some reason the stupidity and complete lack of logic of the anti-gun left still amaze me when it should be expected.)

+ And from Breitbart: NBC News Uses California School Shooting to Whip Up Fear About Guns That Are Already Illegal.

3. Helter Skelter No More Manson Dead at 83

Charles Manson, the wild-eyed 1960s cult leader whose followers committed heinous murders that terrorized Los Angeles and shocked the nation, died Sunday of natural causes, according to the California Department of Corrections. He was 83. Reported by Steve Almasy and Brandon Griggs, CNN: Charles Manson, leader of murderous ’60s cult, dead at 83. (I guess that in his mind he thought that if he had others commit the murders that he himself would not be held accountable… but that wasn’t the case and he spent the rest of his miserable life locked up in prison. At least now taxpayers will no longer be forced to pay for his incarceration.)

4. Continuing Down The Rabbit Hole

President Trump just nominated former chief lobbyist and President of the US division of drug company Eli Lilly, Alex Azar, to be the next Secretary of the Health and Human Services (HHS). Eli Lilly is the inventor and was the primary manufacturer of thimerosal, a mercury-based preservative used in vaccines that are linked to autism and other neurological disorders. From the Autism Action Network: President Trump Nominates Big Pharma Pro-Vaccine Exec as Secretary of the Health and Human Services.

5. Back To The Stone age

Illegal immigrants reportedly assaulted two U.S. Border Patrol agents with rocks, killing one and seriously injuring another Sunday near the southern border with Mexico. The Border Patrol website lists 38 agents who have died since late 2003, some attacked while working along the border, and other fatalities in traffic accidents. From Fox News: Border agent killed, partner injured by illegal immigrants using rocks, the report says. (We definitely need to build “the wall” and from the looks of things with U.S. border agents being stoned to death we might need a two-mile buffer zone armed with landmines and U.S. snipers with orders to shoot on sight along our southern border.)

6. Out Of Thin Air

As reported by Fox News: ‘Ghost car’ appears out of nowhere in crash footage… (A camera glitch maybe… or something else… what do you think?)

7. The Dusty American West is About To Get Worse

The 1930’s the United States was suffering from the most severe drought in its history, the “Dust Bowl.” And be prepared to bite the dust once again, because scientists think the Dust Bowl is coming back for a second round. And this time for decades. As reported by Strange Sounds: Another Dust Bowl will engulf the American West and last 35 years

8. Bad Move Preppers

Across the North American countryside, preppers are storing more and more of their wealth in invisible wallets in cyberspace instead of stockpiling gold bars and coins in their bunkers and basement safes. They won’t be able to access their virtual cash the moment a catastrophe knocks out the power grid or the web, but that hasn’t dissuaded them. Even staunch survivalists are convinced bitcoin will endure economic collapse, global pandemic, climate change catastrophes and nuclear war. 9. Warning! ‘Severe’ Flu Pandemic Coming

Unpredictable mutations in the virus occur so rapidly that vaccinations against the killer illness become outdated within a matter of years. “When that next flu pandemic does come, the question is how severe is it going to be? “Some are very severe, as in 1918. The one in 1957 also killed about three million people. “The one in 1968 killed about 1.5 to two million people. As reported on by George Mills in The Sun: Killer flu to hit BRITAIN? The thing about not having a weapon, if you mean you just have your two hands, they can be lethal. I get dozens of ads “make your own AR-15 or glock off the books. No license necessary, no paperwork at all.Anyone who needs one it’s a cd that also tells you where to get the pieces for pennies on the dollar, let me know. I’ve stopped watching much tv, politics is more interesting to me.
For anyone worried about N.Korea it’s mostly bluster. Some of the missiles are empty. A forensic photographer looked at their latest (the ICBM). In one shot the trajectory would have it land over Japan, another was a fake that went straight up and straight down again. According to contacts at NASA. So they aren’t an imminent threat.

I enjoyed TWD for several seasons, but didn’t watch it for gun instruction. Once it devolved and derailed into a story of the good guys vs. psychos, I lost interest. There is enough of that in the daily news. I wanted escape entertainment, not ruthless, bloody torture.

My large church encourages concealed permits to carry. They have very informally checked in with our Officer Friendly cop who knows most people by recognition. Attack my church and you’ll go down fast. Yep, this is Texas.

  3. swimologist November 21st, 2017 at 7:48 pm

After the first three seasons, they devolved into a gay soap opera. Stopped watching

I will only comment on a couple of things that jumped out at me. Cyber cash….is no cash in a topple of society. I studied bit coin for quite some time, it’s just an old game in a new stadium, It’s not for me. I have friends, and their are some prepper Oum Poppa’s, who preach it’s value and ” new way ” of doing things. It’s still no cash, no legal tender in hand if the rock drops. I frankly am amazed at the number of follower’s and promoters who speak of it. I don’t get it.
Guns in church, why not. If I’m in church I’m carrying, discreetly, but able to use it. I’ve talked to so many ” trained operaters ” , who insist they can spot anyone carrying. I beg to differ, I’ve carried the same way for 25 years without issue. It’s one thing to be legally detained for a unrelated issue and searched, and for someone to just start putting their hands all over you before entering a public location, it’s rare and most times illegal. It’s kinda like smelling as if your drunk but your sober. It’s not illegal in itself to appear to be armed, but it leads to speculation. I may die in church, but it won’t be for lack of Shooting Back. This was a good informative read. I enjoyed immensely.

    Always in Liberty

    1. I never watched the show.
    2. Lots of Churches have armed members. I like that.
    3. Bye.
    4. I don’t know what to think about that one.
    5. Put up that damn wall and learn not to be scared of that weapon you carry!!!
    6. LOL!!!!
    7. I’d be very careful believing every environmental story floating around.
    8. See above comment. I’ll just stick to my own plan, thank you.
    9. GOD help us all.
    10. You can educate ignorance, but can’t fix stupid.

The Living Dead is on……..think I’ll go work-out for an hour or so.

In the United States, countries in the European Union and a few other affluent countries, thiomersal is no longer used as a preservative in routine childhood vaccination schedules.

I checked last week it is on the ingredient lists for multi-vial doses… as is aluminum, and cells from various mammals, virus’…no thank you.

Never watched the walking either. I
Couldn’t stand the previews of it and don’t believe it was very factual to begin with. It was really a bunch of hockey entertainment.
I don’t attend church either, and I only wear my gun when I’m out and about in an area I need to, otherwise it’s in my gun safe under the seat in my car when I’m driving. . Would never wear it to church.

  9. Gary, RN November 20th, 2017 at 3:34 pm

Walking Dead, like almost all TV shows and movies seldom ever show realistic gun use. So if you want to watch TV and movies, overlook this, (as I do0 and just enjoy the picture for what it is……entertainment. But I also have to say that in many cases the Walking Dead and it’s sister show, Fear the Walking Dead, does present many very probable scenarios of what could and may happen in a total breakdown of society……lol not just in a “zombie apocalypse”. A lot of silly, but a lot of possibilities that could very well happen. Worth watching in my opinion.

I stopped watching case it descended into a soap opera. could not understand why they are shooting centerfire weapons when a 10/22 would work fine. You can even fab up a suppresser and that would make sense. The guy with the crossbow should have been eaten a long time ago with a slow loading short range weapon. Not in the realm of reality.

  11. cgbascom November 20th, 2017 at 2:59 pm

Well, well, very interesting articles. I don’t know where to start.

How about we start by what should be banned. Loud mouth critics of our second amendment. SJWs. Snowflakes, PC of anything. BLM. ACLU. SPLC. KKK. RINOs. Clintons. MSM, This should keep us busy into the next decade or so. Yes, I’m tired of the carnage and the back stabbing, and the general abysmal reporting. But, this is life. I would rather be involved than not. Besides, there is sort of a perverse pleasure when good finally overcomes evil. For a brief moment, all is right with the world. Take a look at what Geraldo Rivera has to say about Charles Manson. You can find it on Fox News. Bye, Charlie.

#1 figured people have stopped watching it because of all the stupid stuff they do that is opposite of what they should be doing, Dozens of times the entire cast should be dead 5x over. Rick, the WORST leader of ALL TIME yet people still follow him, take his advice, Or how the show is just about society and socialization/interaction of different people getting together working for a common goal while throwing in political correctness issues. To stop watching it because of the total horrible gun play is quite honestly – pretty silly when there are so many other faults to that show.. DON’T even get me started on Fear the Walking Dead either – everything that group touches goes up in flames – worst EVER.

  13. Richard Cummings November 20th, 2017 at 2:29 pm

One reason I like Nevada, “NO Guns” signs have no authority and only apply to government building with metal detectors and armed guards, so you can carry concealed anyplace you want.

#4 I don’t have a problem with some of the vaccinations. What I do have a problem with is the multiple vacs that are given at the same time and expecting that it isn’t going to do something bad to a baby. Maybe if they spread them out over several months, individually, it wouldn’t do so much harm. Just my thought. Let the parent be more selective on timing. I am pro shots for polio (crippling) maybe measles (deafness) That’s about it. Just not at the same time. Anything else is optional. My child, my responsibility.

#3. All I coud think of is the old Starkist tuna commercial; “Sorry, Charlie.”

  16. Franco November 20th, 2017 at 1:57 pm

I just gave up on the WD this season also. My eyes have rolled so many times, I get headaches. These gunfights are getting out of control. And really, who gives a guy a 10 count after he’s tortured you and killed your friends? Gotta be millennial writers.

  17. Zulu 3-6 November 20th, 2017 at 1:21 pm

#1 I never watched The Walking Dead in the first place. Stuff like that often shows inaccurate firearms use, as well as other inaccurate things. I don’t even watch police shows for the same reason. The most accurate police show I ever saw was Barney Miller.

#2 When I went to church, I always carried a concealed firearm and that was some time back. I was a police officer then anyway. If I were to go to a church now, I would also carry concealed even if church shootings hadn’t become “a thing.”

#3 Couldn’t happen to a nicer guy. So long Charlie. Hope he died in agony.

#5 I agree that a wall needs to be built, and soon. Strict enforcement is also needed along that border. While I don’t think shooting just any border violator on sight is a solution, certainly any armed and/or aggressive border violator should be. Field strip the bodies and just leave them in the desert. Spiking their heads may be a good idea too.

#8 I’ve always thought that Bitcoins were a scam on par with Global Warming and carbon credits.

#9 I’ve thought for some time now that we’re overdue for a flu pandemic. I have no empirical evidence, just a gut feeling.

Entertainment shouldn’t be real life and vice versa…

      • Zulu 3-6 November 21st, 2017 at 7:14 am

The problem is too many people can’t separate reality from fantasy these days.
