“It’s hard for the United States to pursue international anti-corruption and ethics initiatives when we’re not even keeping our own side of the street clean. It affects our credibility. I think we are pretty close to a laughingstock at this point.”

Sadly, I think he may be right to a degree – however, in the article, they blame Current President Trump when in reality it started way before Trump was elected to the office. Decades before.

Ethics displayed by past officials: “I did not have sex with that woman….”, “You can keep your doctor, you can keep your plan . . . .”, ” It was demonstrations against an anti-muslin video ….”. If we have become a laughingstock, it started way before the Trump administration!

“Every other president since the 1970s, Republican or Democrat, worked closely with the ethics office. . .” Ahhh. So now we know who is to blame. I remember 1970s politics. Nixon, Ford, Carter. Laughingstock? Nothing has changed, ethically, morally, politically.
